The Flight of the Red Knot: A Natural History Account of a Small Bird's Annual Migration from the Arctic Circle to the Tip of So by Brian Harrington,
The flight of the red knot is one of the most spectacular long-distance migrations in the world. A member of the sandpiper family, the red knot is barely ten inches long knots to miles and weighs about twenty ounces. Each year, these small russet-colored birds breed in the Arctic, then migrate to the tip of South America knots to miles and back again in their quest for food. Why knots to miles and how they travel more than 18,000 miles each year, often as much as 2500 miles nonstop (and at speeds averaging between thirty knots to miles and forty miles per hour), is the subject of this captivating knots to miles and beautifully illustrated book. Aided by hundreds of volunteers along a vast flight path, author Brian Harrington has been tracking shorebirds like the red knot since 1972 to determine whether conservation measures are needed to protect their rich stopover sites. His findings are surprisingly simple, knots to miles and shocking: of the many sites where birds stop to feed in their journeys north knots to miles and south, a handful are crucial to the survival of ninety percent of the birds. If these sites disappear, the birds knots to miles and many other creatures will also disappear. Derived from the popular NOVA film "Mystery of the Animal Pathfinders", which was based in part on Harrington's fourteen-year field study, The Flight of the Red Knot describes in detail the remarkable physical characteristics of these long-distance fliers, their astounding food-storage capacity, knots to miles and the ever-moving nature of their food supply, as well as the methods of research used to chart the red knot's life cycle.

Francis Joyon - ... 2004 Breton Francis Joyon became the fastest world solo yachtsman, setting a time over 20 days faster than the previous record for a circumnavigation of 72 days 22 hours and 54 minutes and 22 seconds of covering more than 28,000 miles at an average speed of 15.5 knots on the 90 foot(27.

Eagle class patrol craft - The Eagle class patrol craft were a set of steel ships smaller than destroyers but having a greater operational radius than the wooden-hulled, 110-foot submarine chasers developed in 1917. The submarine chasers' range of about 900 miles at a cruising speed of 10 knots (19 km/h) restricted their operations to off-shore antisubmarine work and denied them an open-ocean escort capability.

Relaxin' with the Miles Davis Quintet - Relaxin' with the Miles Davis Quintet is an album recorded in 1956 by Miles Davis. Two sessions on the 11th of May 1956 and the 26th of October in the same year resulted in four albums - this one, Steamin' with the Miles Davis Quintet, Workin' with the Miles Davis Quintet and Cookin' with the Miles Davis Quintet.

They had two periscopes in the control room, which was deleted in Type IXC and afterward. Type IX U-boat was designed by Germany in 1935 and 1936 as a large ocean-going submarine for sustained operations far from the Type IA, and appeared in various sub-types. Secondary armament was provided by one large Utof 105/45 gun with about 110 rounds. Type IXs had six torpedo tubes, four at the bow and two at the stern and two at the stern. As mine-layers they could carry 44 TMA or 66 TMB mines, but many of the IXC boats were not fitted for mine operations. Antiaircraft armament differed throughout the war. They carried six reloads internally and had five external torpedo containers (three at the stern and two at the bow) which stored ten additional torpedoes.
